Bordered by eight other states, Tennessee may very well be the southern favorite. It is known for its natural beauty, southern hospitality, serene four-season weather and country music. Memphis Tennessee happens to be one of the most densely populated cities in the US, and for good reason; there is never a shortage of spectacular sights and sounds. Tennessee has the warmest breeze, one music landmark after another, and what the locals call “irresistible soul”.

First visited by a Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto in 1540, Tennessee went on to be claimed both by France and England. Although Tennessee joined the Confederacy during the Civil War, eastern Tennessee remained loyal to the Union. The deeply rooted difference between upland and lowland areas of the state can still be felt today. Tennessee is also filled with sites of historic interest, including the home of Andrew Jackson and The Johnson National Historic Site, as well as a number of military parks and national battlefields.

Tennessee is divided into three regions (both geographically and administratively). West Tennessee is the most geographically defined, bordered by the Mississippi River on the west and Tennessee River on the east with a wealth of smaller lakes and rivers in between. Middle Tennessee is rich with rolling hills and streams as well as the Nashville Basin with its steep slopes and ridges. East Tennessee offers a mountainous region that includes the famous Smoky Mountains.

Tennessee climate is known for its hot summers (but not too hot), mild winters (with only occasional wind here and there), and abundant rainfall. The weather is surprisingly more pleasant than in neighboring states. Snow is light in the center but heavier in the mountains.

When you hear people speak of Southern Hospitality, you can be sure they are referring to Tennessee and its people. Tennessee has a safe and pleasant environment where the locals are as refreshing as the scenery. The options are limitless in Tennessee – from a rugged football game to tasting the ripest fruit at the local market. Festivals and art shows are plenty and country music performances are grand, while Tennessee lakes will keep any fishing enthusiast busy for weeks.
